How to Have Beautiful, Balanced Skin

Your skin is the largest organ of your body, and as it covers your entire person, you want it to look its best! In this article, we will share just how you can enjoy beautiful and balanced skin.

1. Know Your Skin Type

Before you can purchase the right products for your skin, you need to know what skin type you are sporting. Examine your skin in the mirror. Do you spot some shine? Is your skin prone to acne breakouts? If so, you have an oily skin type. If your skin tends to feel itchy, and appears dull or is even peeling in some places, you have dry skin. If you tend to break out only on the “T-zone”, or forehead, chin, and nose, then you have combination skin.

It’s worth noting that you can have sensitive skin regardless of your skin type. Sensitive skin tends to show irritation and break out in rashes in response to some products.

2. Shop According to Your Skin Type

If you have oily skin, you will want to buy skincare products as well as makeup that are oil-free. Cleansers should lather when you use them. Oily products are the last thing you want to apply to skin that already produces an ample or excess amount of oil. When selecting a moisturizer, you want to choose one that is light and airy. A facial lotion is a better option than a cream, which tends to be heavier.

If you have dry skin, the opposite is true – creams are better to use when moisturizing your skin. In fact, one natural product that can introduce hydration back into your skin is coconut oil. When selecting a cleanser, choose one that is creamy. It should not lather. Also, when selecting a toner, you will want to choose one that is not overly-drying, such as witch hazel.

Those with combination skin may find that they need to mix and match products to see what works, and what works on different parts of the face. If you have sensitive skin, select products that are not harsh or overly-drying. Most skincare products intended for sensitive skin will be labeled as such.

3. Adopt a Good Routine

Each morning and each night, wash your face. This is to clean your skin and remove dirt, debris, and makeup. After this, you can use a toner. Twice per week, use an exfoliating product, such as a scrub, to remove dirt, oil, and dead skin cells that can clog pores and lead to breakouts. This is an important step for every skin type. Be sure not to over-exfoliate, as this can dry out the skin and cause it to make up for this by producing more oil than is needed.

Once you have scrubbed your skin on days reserved for exfoliating, apply your moisturizer and sunscreen. One time per week, it’s recommended that you use a mask on your face. Oily skin benefits most from a clay or charcoal mask, whereas dry skin types are hydrated when using a gel mask.

Follow these steps in order to care for your skin in the best way possible and enjoy balanced skin that is healthy and gorgeous.
